The bib gourmand category is awarded to restaurants considered a "good value," bearing in mind that we're talking about Michelin here, so it's French middle-class good value, not grad student good value. The full list can be found here. The Bistro Jeanty in Yountville is mentioned, ironic because my entree at the late, lamented SF version cost more than the $40 the list allots for two courses plus wine. My own fault for ordering an (unbelievable) Kobe beef steak, of course, and the veggie options and even the Dover sole were much more reasonable. Other selections I agree with wholeheartedly are Delfina, Rivoli, and the Slanted Door. Oddly enough, Burma Superstar and Dosa also made the list. Both are perfectly fine in my experience but not knock-your-socks-off special occasion food. As usual with lists like this, though, it provides many good suggestions for reservations the next time your parents are in town or you're celebrating someone's successful thesis defense.
