"Don't sing the song. Doooon't sing the song," I willed myself, as Trader Joe's piped in Natalie Imbruglia's one-hit wonder "Torn" near to closing time Monday night. It's bad enough I know the lyrics to so much cheesy pop, but this is a public setting and a song that's more than ten years old and wasn't good to begin with. In the vegetable aisle, though, I caught a young Asian guy moving his lips to the words as he picked out avocados. Then in frozen foods a woman restocking the shelves was singing right along with the lyrics.
I have also come around the corner in this same TJ's to see a woman getting down to "Brick House." Got any funny supermarket music stories?
