Incomparable Vergeer is Para-Athlete of Year

Alb_athene_44 Esther Vergeer has won pretty much everything there is to win in wheelchair tennis, so it's no surprise she was named Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year With A Disability.  The relentless Vergeer was unbeaten in 2007, captured the vaunted Grand Slam of all four majors, and won a World Team championship for the Dutch.  She's also an Olympic gold medalist in both singles and doubles...twice.  Tennis is hard enough without having to wheel yourself to the ball. It takes an incredible amount of skill and strength to play wheelchair tennis, and to succeed as roundly as Vergeer is almost superhuman.
