Women's Sports Blog is the creation of the pseudonymous Fat Louie, an over-employed fan living in the Bay Area. It is a highly idiosyncratic look at the world of women's sports, from news to personalities to politics, from an openly feminist and queer-friendly perspective. Because FL grew up in East Jesus Nowhere, Indiana she is a fairly partisan Purdue women's basketball fan. She also supports Stanford soccer and softball, and some of the United States national teams. Nevertheless she strives to be good to women's sports generally, which means credit where credit is due. Bias against misogyny, racism, and homophobia is of course always welcome here. Also wardrobe jokes and inappropriate photo captioning.
We do use press photographs, believing that appropriately credited, non-full-size images fall under fair use. We are also a Health At Every Size and anti-dieting blog. Deal with it. Our occasional contributors include Bay Area sports attendees Envirogal and The BC Fan, as well as Papa Louie, the man who started it all by claiming that when he took Young Fat Louie to her first pro baseball game, she commented "Daddy, there are no women." Thanks, Dad, for finding me the Raybestos Brakettes long before it looked like women would ever get a shot at pro sports, and for writing cranky letters to the Star about its Fever coverage.
