I'm being very resistant to writing in this blog lately. For instance, I have this New Tree bar and I just don't have anything to say about it. On first bite, it seems like it's not going to be sweet or interesting, but the biscuit pieces give it an unusual depth (I could live without the flax seeds), and it ends up being delicious. And that's pretty much that. New Tree's chocolate itself I still don't find particularly distinguished. I do have something to say about the packaging. It and a tiny little package of lavender mini-bars, probably the size of a folded dollar bill, were shipped in a box that could have held about twenty more bars. At least it used paper shavings as filler, but it woudn't have needed filler if they just stuck it in a padded envelope. More power to NewTree for its chocolate-creation process being carbon neutral (unclear whether this means the process itself is clean or they just bought offsets) and being committed to environmentalism, but they could also eschew putting a completely unnecessary plastic bag around their chocolate. It's in a wrapper and and a box, that's plenty.
